Bio

Brian Hebets

My name is Brian “HEBS” Hebets and i’m a Visual Artist. . Born and raised in San Diego, CA and love everything about my city. Graduated from the Art Institute- San Diego with a Bachelors in Science including over fifteen years of study in Fine Arts along with three years of study in Media Arts and Animation. I specialize in Digital and Traditional Arts.

My inner motivations stem from my childhood, watching Horror/ Sci-fi classics and the Discovery Channel. I paint Dark/ Nightmarish images because I’ve always been fascinated with the emotion of fear in the human psyche. Fear is the ability to recognize danger leading to an urge to confront it or flee from it, but in extreme cases of fear (horror and terror) a freeze or paralysis response is possible. Needless to say, I have a twisted mindset and will forever be imprisoned in my imagination. My passion for the Ocean began early in my childhood and has progressed ever since. Sharks are huge part of my art. I grew up a huge “Jaws” fan and have studied them ever since. They’re my favorite animal. The most feared and misunderstood creature we have on this planet. The more i’ve learned, the more fascinating they’ve become. I paint these animals to simply remind the world the beauty they possess and how vital they are to our Marine system. I translate these images to canvas using various styles, color combos, balance and most importantly, lighting. My styles range from Urban Abstract, Surrealism and Photo-realism. I will forever be a student of art, learning from those before me and utilizing techniques to conquer challenges in pursuit to progress in the world of art. Art to me, keeps the mind and spirit alive, and the only time I feel alive is when I’m painting…
Stay grounded and push on.
