Lets go back in the day to when i was about 8 years old and my cousins and i would stay the night at my Uncle Ray’s house before every family barbeque. Being kids of course we would goof off til the late hours in the night, so my uncle would “TRY” to punish us by sitting all of us through his favorite horror movie, “the Fly”. His plan worked for everyone but me. I enjoyed watching my cousins get all freak out and talk about the nightmares they had that night. So from that point on, my love for horror movies began. I began watching movies like “IT”, “Child’s Play”, “Critters”, “Night of the living dead” and my all time favorite “Jaws”. All these movies have certain scenes and images that remain stuck in my head, like for example the troll creature in Stephen king’s “Cat’s eye”. That character made me sleep with the damn lights on. All these things kept my imagination running crazy when I’d draw in my sketchbook. As time went on, I became more and more facinated on how scary images trigger emotions of fear in people including myself. The sight of a clown, the thought of a shark swiming beneath you, alone in the dark, hearing strange noises, walking into spider webs. Everyone has freaked out with stuff like that. Thats what draws my attention to wanting to paint the things i do. I love it
Where it all began…
